Yes, now Sri Lanka is a safe country to travel.
The 30 year old civil war which caused a considerable damage to the property,
economy and human lives in this country, was ended in year 2009, through a
successful military victory.
Note – Even during the civil war, tourists were never targeted by the terrorists.
The lifting of Travel Bans which had been imposed by many countries, and the significant improvement of the tourist industry since the war ended, endorse that Sri Lanka is a safe destination to travel.
VISA Requirement ?
Except the citizens of Singapore, Maldives and Seychelles, all other travelers / tourists have to obtain a valid visa to enter the country.

The main Airport of Sri Lanka is "Bandaranaike International Airport" (CMB)
Even though it is also known as BIA, the 03 Letter IATA Code of this Airport, still remains as CMB.
NOTE : This Airport was earlier called as "Colombo International Airport". Hence even to date, the code remains as CMB
This Airport is Situated about 32 km north of Colombo, in an area called Katunayake.
While 28 Airlines operate direct flights, to & from CMB, all other major airlines operate codesharing flights to & from CMB
Even though there is another recently built International Airport in Sri Lanka, same and the rest of the airports of the country mainly handles domestic and cargo flights.

What payment methods available in Sri Lanka.
Once you have paid for the booked tour, you may need cash for extra meals, entrance tickets for the visits + jeep / boat charges (if applicable & if not included in the tour package price ), and also for tips.
To pay these, the most ideal and most convenient currency would be LKR.
Payments at hotels / restaurants and popular shops can also be done through
credit / debit cards.
If needed you can withdraw money, time to time as required, in LKR through ATM Machines which are widely available in towns.
As an average, the daily limit for ATM withdrawals is about LKR. 80,000/- per day
Exchanging of foreign currency and Travelers Cheques can be done through banks / Authorized Money Exchange Centers. Most of the star class hotels also has this facility,
WHAT TIME DO THE BANKS OPEN IN SRI LANKA?
The general banking hours are from 09.00 am to 03.00 pm from Monday to Friday, except on Mercantile / Public Holidays + on Special Bank Holidays.
But there are certain branches of some banks which has holiday banking facility and extended banking hours. We can assist to find an appropriate bank and branch as and when that information is needed.
Meanwhile, all banks which operates at the Arrival Lobby of the International Airport are open 24 hours.
